Not sure if I'll use both Obsidian and Docs now. With that, I have apps on all devices and a nice UI. Docs just added a cross-linking feature Doc-to-Doc that kind of gave me a BIG pause in this process. I'm coming from Google Keep and Docs as my standards (used to be an Evernote person about 4 years ago). However, there are some roadblocks for me right now that has me hesitating before going all in.ġ - Obsidian uses non-standard markdown (bad idea) and needs to fix that! I know they did it for simplicity, but, using other markdown tools fail (for example, images and links), 2 - they really need an editor like Typora that hides editing directly in markdown, 3 - Mobile - i don't want to use extra md tools on iOS and just want the same interface (too much fiddling around with tools and compatible clouds of which Dropbox seems the only good choice for crossing Windows, Android, iOS and Mac). I really love the simplicity, local storage and cross linking Obsidian provides. I'm right in the middle of converting as are you. Obsidian is an ideal solution for advocates taking notes and linking them with each other when needed. But it is very mature to date and adding more features day by day. Loved Notion's flexibility, but the uncertainty of being always cloud based makes me antsy. Obsidian is a very new note-taking app compare to other note-taking apps. Now I'm just wondering how scalable this actually is, granted, I moved too because I really liked the flexibility that markdown offers. Was wondering how the others are holding up on this thanks!Ĭame from Notion, and thought that Obsidian could potentially be a replacement for Notion since its backlinks and tagging system could imitate how the databases from Notion were, via the search bar and backlinks panel. The initial problems I'm encountering is of course the lack of image previews of notes (gallery view in Notion/card view in Evernote), the potential sizeable increase of storage due to all the images from my web clippings, and currently the lack of a mobile app (though I was kind of hoping to just wait for this since I'm usually at home anyway these days).Īnyway, so I realized that there are those who use Obsidian mainly as a Zettelkasten vault instead, where all the notes are their own words. And with a flat system at that, except for images and templates. I was approaching Obsidian with this mindset, literally transferring all my web clippings, personal notes, scratch notes, knowledge based notes, writing projects, to a single vault.
